Just a quick update with some pictures to let you see how the shop build is coming along. Ready for electric and siding next.
Some exterior shots:
And some interior views:
Stairs temporarily put together and an upstairs shot:
And a couple of shots for perspective:
As you can see from these last two shots, there's plenty of room for a future blacksmith shop, and a cooper's shop, and a wheelwright's shop, and a Governor's Palace, and a coffee shop, and ......... Ok, maybe I'm getting a little carried away. :)

Hi Jamie, it's really nice workshop. Inside, it looks larger than the outside. Good job. Petr
Ok I'll say it...sooo jealous! Though I'm curious why you need electricity? LOL. You need to drill some holes through the joists in the ceiling to run a springpole through. Although, your future wheelwright building will probably have a great wheel lathe anyway :)
Hi Marilyn, All that space is great, until it's time to cut grass. Then I wish most of it was planted in corn, or better yet, mature walnut, cherry, and long leaf pine.
Thanks Petr. I think I used the same photo trick that hotels use to make their closet sized rooms look like suites on their web sites. :) I think it'll be plenty big enough for me though, especially with all the storage space above.
Hey Shannon. Good point on the electricity! Not quite sold on the candle light/oil lamp woodworking just yet. A spring pole lathe is definitely in the future plans. I'm thinking under the window on the back wall. And I can see a nice springy sapling attached to a beam. At least until the great wheel is finished. ;)
Awesome, Jamie! A new shop is very, very exciting—starting with a clean slate and planning where to set up your tools and benches. I bet you're daydreaming about it all the time. ; )
Hi Kari! You bet I'm daydreaming about it. All the time. The planning of how to set up the tools started long before the first brick was laid. Can't wait to get to the point where I can start putting in shelving and such. Hoping my schedule allows me to break away next Saturday for the SAPFM meeting.
Well, as they say, "The best time to plant trees is a generation ago. The second best time to plant trees is today."
Looking forward to seeing it in person.
